Biography

Greek alternative/progressive rock unit Phase formed in the city of Larissa in 2003 around the talents of Thanos Grigoriou, Damos Harharidis, Vasilis Liapis, and Marios Papakostas. Employing a sound that has drawn comparisons to bands like Anathema, Porcupine Tree, the Tea Party, and Alice in Chains, the quartet spent its formative years honing its unique sound (they cite David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Loreena McKennitt, and Rainbow, among others, as influences), eventually releasing a debut single, "Perdition," in 2009, with a full-length studio album, In Consequence, arriving the following year. After finding success regionally, the band relocated to Newcastle, England and began work on their sophomore outing. The resulting The Wait arrived on Record Store Day, April 19, 2014. ~ James Christopher Monger
