Biography

Shelly Fairchild has been a one-woman force of nature in the Nashville music community since arriving on the scene with her highly acclaimed 2005 Sony/Columbia debut album Ride. Following that release, Fairchild toured with some of the biggest names in the format, including Keith Urban and Tim McGraw, and began to plant her deep Southern roots I the industry. The project introduced the young artist’s soulful, gospel-tinged brand of alternative country and spawned a Top 40 hit with the spellbinding “You Don’t Lie Here Anymore.” She again found success with her second release, Ruby’s Money, and her third full-length studio album, Buffalo, marked an important milestone in her life and career, earning a 2017 Rolling Stone spotlight as one of 10 Artists You Need To Know.

Fairchild was born into a musical family in Jackson, Mississippi, and, like so many before her, started singing in her church choir at a very young age. She launched her professional career singing and acting in musical theatre productions such as Beehive…A 60’s Musical, Grease, Godspell and others, but it was the hugely popular Always…Patsy Cline which helped encourage her move to Nashville to pursue a recording career.

In addition to her own records, Fairchild has appeared as a background vocalist on cuts such as Eric Church’s “Creepin,” Jason Aldean’s “Burnin’ It Down,” Trace Adkins’ “Jesus & Jones” and “Cowboy’s Back In Town” as well as select tracks on albums by the Randy Rogers Band, Terri Clark, Crystal Gayle, Joe Nichols, Tanya Tucker and more. She has toured as a background vocalist with country music with country music queen Martina McBride, and continues to make special appearances as a background vocalist for several artists.

As a songwriter, Fairchild has contributed to albums by Little Big Town, Emily West, Maggie Rose, Mindy McCready, Caroline Jones and Naia Kete, among others. Her work has also been featured in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, The Biggest Loser, Riverdale, Roswell, Selling Sunset, Valor and Lucifer, as well as ABC’s “Summer Fun Games” promo and Fox Sports’ 2019 season promo.

A longtime gem in the treasure trove of Nashville musicians, Shelly Fairchild has made regular appearances on the legendary Grand Ole Opry. She also hosts an LGBTQ night at Nashville’s Lipstick Lounge on the first Saturday of each month. She continues to write, record and release songs that she loves, cementing her already solid reputation as one of Music City’s most electrifying songwriters and entertainers.
