Biography

British music producer Chris Wheeler, is behind a catalogue of projects that have earnt him a reputation for delivering world-class live music events, and a Number One album. A conservatoire trained trombonist, Chris has also been a venue and artist booker, promoter, tour manager, record producer, and artist manager. He co-founded the Heritage Orchestra in 2004 and has since provided the orchestral production for arena tours with Tim Minchin, Richard Ashcroft, and Pete Tong. Wheeler devised the first 'live' orchestra/synth performance of the Blade Runner soundtrack for Massive Attack’s Meltdown Festival, plus an award-winning interpretation of the music of Joy Division for the Brighton Festival, both of which were taken to the Sydney Opera House in 2013 who then invited Chris to curate a large-scale show with Disco legend - Giorgio Moroder.

Chris’s musical tastes, and experiences, are all-encompassing - he is on the one hand Classically trained, but on the other hand, he is from a world of gigs and club culture. He has conceived and curated several BBC Prom televised shows featuring artists such as Sharon Van Etten, Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Hercules and Love Affair, and Jamie Cullum. Chris has also created concerts with UNKLE, Plaid, Amon Tobin, and Tinchy Stryder, and has collaborated on shows for Anhoni, Massive Attack, Scott Walker, Squarepusher, These New Puritans, The National, Leisure Society, Spiritualized, Anna Calvi, John Cale, and Aphex Twin.

In recent years he has worked with a myriad of pop singers on a project originally conceived with Pete Tong and Jules Buckley for the BBC Proms, now called Ibiza Classics - a show that has been copied the world over due to its enormous success.

Wheeler is currently producing an orchestral album entitled ‘The Breaks’ with the Heritage Orchestra and Jules Buckley, to be released on Decca.
