Andrés, a distinguished and accomplished professional, is a sixth-time Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winner. He possesses exceptional expertise in tracking engineering, sound design, immersive audio, and high-skilled editing and mixing. With a remarkable track record, he has contributed his talents to over 400 international music albums/singles, collaborating with more than 150 renowned artists and brands. Andrés serves as the head recording engineer at Carlos Vives Studio and has played a pivotal role in major productions and feature projects.
Early in his journey, Andrés' passion for music took root in 2002 when he first learned to play the guitar. As his curiosity grew, he immerse in the art of recording and learned new ways to enhance the impact of his music. It was during this time that he discovered his calling to work in music studios. In 2011, Andrés graduated from Los Angeles Recording School in California. His dedication and talent were soon recognized, leading to invaluable internships and a significant role at Elytron Studios in Santa Monica. There, he spent two years working alongside Mexican talents René Garza and Aureo Baqueiro.
In 2019, Andrés was honored with the Spotlight Award, an esteemed recognition presented to him from a pool of 10,000 graduates of the Los Angeles Film School. This accomplishment solidified his position as a rising engineer in the industry.
Andrés embarked on a fulfilling career path, initially returning to Mexico to expand his knowledge and expertise in sound. He began his journey in audio post-production for TV commercials, dubbing, and live sound in theater. His unstoppable determination led him to secure a role as a recording and mix engineer at Sony Music Studios, where he thrived for nearly three and a half years. Within the prestigious Latin American recording space, Andrés had the privilege of collaborating with top Mexican, Latin, and international artists, including La Oreja de Van Gogh, Armando Manzanero, Natalia Lafourcade, Lila Downs, Carlos Rivera, Ha*Ash, and La Sonora Santanera. One of his notable achievements during this time was working alongside multi-Grammy and Emmy-winning composer Thomas Newman in the international film production of "007 James Bond: Spectre."
At the age of 26, Andrés celebrated his first major recognition. In 2015, he earned three Latin Grammy Awards with Natalia Lafourcade's album "Hasta La Raiz," followed by his first Grammy just three months later. He accomplished five multiple Latin Grammy nominations for his work on "Hasta La Raiz," and had the pleasure of winning “Best Sound Engineering for an Album” category.
In 2017, Andrés returned to his native Colombia to collaborate with one of the country's greatest musical figures, Carlos Vives. As the Head Studio Manager, Recording and Mix Engineer at GML Estudios for six years, he became the first long-term engineer to work closely with Carlos Vives. Throughout their partnership, Andrés has engineered six albums, earned three additional Latin Grammy Awards, contributed to numerous hit singles, and engaged in international collaborations with Netflix, Disney Animation Studios, Spotify Sessions, Disney Plus, Galaxy Sessions, and more. He has also recorded sessions with acclaimed Latin artists such as Andrés Cepeda, Fonseca, Kany García, Choquibtown, Sebastian Yatra, and others.
In 2021, he encountered one of his favorite and unique sessions of his career, the recording engineering for the Disney 60th Animation feature film "Encanto," which portrays Colombian culture. He conducted recording sessions for Encanto’s Soundtrack in Bogota, Colombia.
Since 2019, Andrés has ventured into the world of immersive sound, incorporating innovative techniques in sound design and mixing. He has worked on multiple albums and productions with immersive sound, including Carlos Vives' "Cumbiana Vol. 1 & 2" and various singles by talented artists. Andrés' commitment to delivering an extraordinary auditory experience continually drives him to explore new avenues of sound appreciation for his clients. Currently, he aims to expand his immersive sound expertise through his brand, Emergent.
