An artist, rapper and producer, Samy Chakur a.k.a. Mar$o is most passionate about telling his personal stories in a smart and subtle way through his music. A creator at heart with an endless beat in his soul, he bases all his music on his own experience that saw him emigrate to Spain at a young age from a humble neighborhood in Morocco, making a new start in a transitional journey marked by perseverance, tenacity and determination. Telling tales of survival which are characterized by the realism and practicality of life, he seeks to connect with people through his unique sound that is not only charged by hopes and dreams, but also driven by the need to educate and empower. Interested in North-African Raï music from which he draws his inspiration, Mar$o first ventured into the music industry in 2006 where he was a member of a couple of band groups until 2008. Hitting a pause for a while, it wasn’t until 2017 when he did a fresh restart, breaking into the scene as a solo artist with something to prove. Spewing Spanish/Latin lines that are imbued with the mechanics of fluid rhymes and sequenced instrumentals, he injects life and fire into every song without compromising on the quality or integrity of each production. His goal is to consistently provide music with content that everyone can relate with while serving to entertain them through catchy beats.
