Biography

The Venezuelan born musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Ras Sparrow (Eloy Carrero) is an international reggae artist who follows the traditional sound and message of Roots Reggae. From an early age Ras has been involved with music but it wasn’t until the 1990’s that reggae became his musical style.

In 2003 he began playing live music on the Big Island of Hawai’i at which time he became known as Ras Sparrow, a name given to him by the Rasta community of the island. During this time, he formed his first reggae band, “Ras Sparrow & Daily Bread’. In 2008 he released his first full studio production “Sovereign People,” a seven-song EP recorded and produced in his own Studio One Love using strictly solar energy. This album contains songs such as Tree of Life, Fountain of Truth (Featuring Earl “Chinna” Smith) and Good Seed (song which became number one on Hawai’i radios as well as reaching success worldwide). Later that year Ras & Queen Sparrow would emerge as a group (2008-2013). Under Ras & Queen Sparrow he recorded the singles I Endure (w/ Hawaiian Roots Band), First Light, and the international reggae hit Zion Town.

Ras has had the opportunity and privilege to share the stage with reggae greats such as Israel Vibrations, Alpha Blondy, Midnite, Groundation, Kymani Marley, Anthony B, Bambu Station, Dezarie, Don Carlos, among others.

Now as a solo artist, Ras Sparrow is currently based in his hometown of Caracas, Venezuela from where he has recently released his latest production DigITAL 12” Dub Mixes and continues on his mission to spread music of praise, love, and Rasta consciousness with renewed inspiration.
