Biography

Thomas Tyra is an audio engineer in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Technology with an Engineering emphasis from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Audio Sciences with a concentration in Recording and Production from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. Tom’s experience in recording, mixing, and post-production spans a wide variety of classical and popular music genres, spoken-word, podcasts, and commercial voice-over. Professionally, Thomas' core qualifications are in audio recording, engineering, and mixing, as well as live sound reinforcement. Thomas draws his experience from working as a freelance audio engineer for private clients and a variety of organizations in the DMV area, including Bias Studios, The Neo Elite, and Old Town Studios. He also works with both JHU and GMU on university projects.

Thomas also is a tuba player, performing live and as a session musician within a wide variety of musical ensembles from the local area. The most notable venues including regional and international music conferences, promotional events for Cirque Du Soleil, The Nissan Motor Corporation, The United States Army Band Conference, and the White House National Christmas Tree Lighting Pre-Show.
