Biography

I have been playing piano since I was 7 years old when I began piano lessons. I listened to my mom play her organ every night. She played by ear, so I began picking out tunes on the piano. The first were one or two chords and I began to add accompaniment. I learned many songs by listening to my mom play. I made up a few songs when I was still in elementary school. In high school, I learned to play guitar a little and played for informal gatherings and Bible studies, Sunday School, Christmas caroling, etc. I played for my son Josh's choir school group at church.

I was asked to play piano for healing services at our church which lasted several hours. I began to play piano for some special events around town after my son was born. When my son was in high school, he and I were invited to come to a Contra Dance. I immediately knew it was not for me as Contra dancing requires one to dance in circles and I have always had trouble with circles - the carousel and anything else that goes in a circular pattern, I have always become extremely dizzy. So during the break, I spoke to the piano player in the live band and as it turned out, shortly after, I was asked to take his place as he left to start another band. I also fill in for the pianist at English Country Dance occasionally during the summer.

I recorded a demo about fifteen years ago so that I could begin playing gigs around town. The owner of the recording studio encouraged me to record a full length cd. So I did and 'Quiet Waters' was born. My family encouraged me to continue, so I made 'Quiet Waters II,' and then 'An Olde Time Christmas,' 'Quiet Moments,' 'Lullabies,' and finally, 'A Song in My Heart.' Now 'Classic Celtic,' something I've wanted to do for a long time is completed.

I discovered that people like quiet and calm, and the older we get, the more we value it. So the first part of 'Classic Celtic' has a mix of slower and fast pieces, but the end part is more slow and calming, a good way to end the day. I often fall asleep to a CD that is very soothing and calming. I have had many comments about my music being calming and even healing.

I hope you enjoy my music, and if you do, I would be honored if you would leave a comment about it so that others would know how you feel. It also helps me sell more of my music. A good portion of the profits goes to 'Sonlight Power,' an organization that provides solar power to hospitals, orphanages, schools, and churches in third world countries.

God bless you.
