Bruce Irving is a singer-songwriter in central Massachusetts. He's been writing songs since his college days in Pittsburgh, where he met his long-time friend and musical collaborator Rob Simbeck. He has also written and recorded frequently with his brother, Doug Irving, who is also a CD Baby artist.

When not writing, playing, singing, and recording music (which inevitably is most of the time), Bruce is an optical engineer, traveling far and wide for his company in his current role of international distribution manager. Bruce fulfilled a long-time dream in 2001 when he got his private pilot's license, but he hasn't been flying much the last few years (at least not at the controls). His lifelong obsessions with aviation and music may explain the nom de web "FlyingSinger" (as in the URL for his blog "Music of the Spheres," http://flyingsinger.blogspot.com).

One of the great things about not being a signed recording artist is you can write and record pretty much whatever you want (the other way to do this is to be the Beatles). You don't have to stick to whatever it is someone thinks your "style" might be. So you will find a lot of different styles of music on Bruce's albums, including pop, rock, country, folk, jazz, and various combinations.

Bruce also gives a lot of credit to his friend and producer, Roger Lavallee. Roger is a whiz at guitar, bass, drum programming, and vocal arrangements, not to mention recording with Pro Tools. His band The Curtain Society can also be found on CD Baby.

Bruce's other interests include books, space flight (simulated so far), Japanese, the Beatles, and writing about himself in the third person.
