Biography

Canadian Pianist Carson Becke has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician around the world. He is also the co-director of Pontiac Enchanté, a concert series in Luskville, Quebec.

From 2005 to 2019 Carson lived in the United Kingdom, first to study at the Purcell School for Young Musicians, at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he worked with Tatiana Sarkissova. He completed his master’s degree (M.Phil.) and doctorate (D.Phil.) in performance and musicology at the University of Oxford, made possible by the generous support of the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation of Canada. Through his master’s degree, He studied the piano privately with Hinrich Alpers in Berlin with the support of the University of Oxford’s Conway Scholarship program. Carson’s doctoral studies were generously supported by the Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund.

Carson's doctorate research concerned the role of the piano in the life and work of Richard Strauss, on whose early piano, chamber and vocal music he is developing a series of albums.
